Well Wishes

throwing coins in the well and feeling bliss

hearing the clink as they fall deep into the abyss

memories are complex in the times we reminisce

looking at your tears and feeling amiss

hope for redemption dies in vain

old family ties are severed by pain

the glimmer of the coin in my hand begins to fade

now turning a murky green shade of jade

reflecting the years of jealousy and rage

years of unbridled crusades led to your cage

a lifetime of coins in your arsenal

the risk always being marginal

tossing every token away

inviting chaos to stay

all care and consideration devoured

almost as if it is a superpower

the trust quickly sours

now all you can do is beg for an hour

pleading for forgiveness

claiming it was a sickness

with every mistake made

another coin purveyed

my blood begins to boil, my hands become taut

seeing the coin ties my stomach in a knot

every coin leading you astray

allowing the family to decay

adventures always ending in bombshells

each time costing you more coins in the well

deep in the dark cavern of mistakes

lies a heart that aches
