“The Queen”

Another life was lost today

The work is still making headway

The life lost shall soon be replaced

The cycle moves fast-paced

I’ve long forgone their names

All their faces now look the same

Heavy is the head that wears the crown

My life through my title is renowned

Years come and go

My end will surely bring woe

I keep the line intact

My demise would impact

My colony would fracture

Failing to manufacture

I must live on

I have to greet a new face at dawn

Each pupa serves

The valuable lesson to preserve

To keep me alive

To help the colony thrive

One life matters not

Unless it’s mine, as it is taught.
